Avoided Methane

Located in Santa Catarina, Brazil, the overall aim of this project is to improve the animal manure management system, while also reducing GHG and improving the living standards of the local population. The project transforms swine manure into high quality and nutrient-rich organic compost, which is used for agricultural production. The project aims to protect water resources through an environmentally friendly manure management system, which would eliminate the need to use water for diluting.The project has several socio-economic benefits in addition to environmental improvements. It enhances local development by involving farmers with different cooperatives to promote infrastructure. It also increases the opportunities for income diversification by reducing dependency on livestock. Additionally, the project helps rural farmers access the international market by transforming manure into quality compost that could be sold on the market as well as creating an attractive environment for investors and clients interested in sustainable production.
